Fished with Charlie Archer and Chris Gorsuch today. The water was 75 degrees and stained. Much cooler today than yesterday with cloudy to partly cloudy skies. We started off the day well with a fat 16" on a buzz bait. The bite was slower than yesterday and came in spurts. We ended up with 74 smallies and 1 walleye.Although the bite was a bit off from yesterday the quality was alot better today. Although we had a problem keeping the larger fish hooked. We had no less than a dozen 15"+ smallies come unglued today, along with several run in's with Toothy critters. We also had several doubles and even a "triple".
Overall it was a great day to fish. We even saw 5 eagles flying together today. I never saw that many together at one time.

Fished with Chris Gorsuch today. We started out at dawn and fished till about noon. We ended up with 50 smallies and 1 walleye. 3 smallies were 17"+ and we had 5 or 6 that were in the 15-16" range. It was HOT today and even took nice swim in the late morning. Swim jigs, Grubs and crankbaits where the ticket this am.In the afternoon we waited till about 5:30 and fished till 7:00. We ended up with 20 more fish including one nice 18" walleye and the last fish of the day made the trip as Chris hooked and Landed a GIANT 42" Musky! Chris played the fish to perfection and we got some great pics! That fish will earn him a Catch and Release award from the PFBC!

Steve and Mary Fox fished this afternoon on an Evening Charter. Steve was the high bidder on a 1/2 day trip i donated as part of the wyoming county chamber of commerce auction back in February. We had a great evening. They boated 28 fish, including 1 walleye, 2 rock bass and a big ole 24" Channel Cat. Once Mary got the hang of the tube she did quite well for her first time on the river. It was a warm start but it really turned into a nice evening as the sun settled behind the mountains. We saw several eagles, Hoards of Herons and a few deer.

John Allen and his son Ryan went fishing today. Due to his long drive we didnt start till 11:00am. I was a bit sceptical of starting out mid day but we had some good action almost immediately. They ended up with 45 smallies up to 17". Hawghead Mudpie tubes caught most of the fish today along with crankbaits. I was hoping for a good topwater bite in the evening but it must be the full moon, water clarity, heat or a combination of all 3 but it wasnt there tonight. A pretty good day today with a fun pair of anglers. We also saw 2 minks hunting along the shore and several eagles today. And i lost my 2nd pair of sunglasses in 2 weeks!! And make a note..when its hot bring 3 times the water you think you will go through!! I filled my cooler today and we went thru that in 3 hours!! Luckily the in laws have a cottage not far off the river!! THANKS FOR THE DRINKS!

Tim Fehr and i fished North today. We launched the boat in a dense fog with limited visability. The top water bite this am didnt dissapoint. As tim quickly was into a nice fat 17" fish. We put several more in the boat on topwater...buzzbaits and Pop r's. After the fog lifted the bite changed to a crankbait bite and jerkbait bite. Then the wind and blue bird skies kicked in and we ended the day fishing tubes. All together we had a 30+ smallies in the boat. But it was a "quality" day. Its amazing how fat and thick even the smaller 12-13" fish are now. Over 1/2 of our fish today were 14" plus. Topwater baits, crankbaits and Hawghead mudpie tubes were the deal today.

Fished with my 7 year old son Jordan and Rich Hebda from 5 to dark on saturday. Jr has been after me to take him since he hasnt been able to tag along on guide trips. We ended up with 32 smallies. Biggest was 16". Jordan caught a nice 15" fish and refused to have his picture taken with it. "Too small dad"! LOL....Rich got his first top water smallie. A little bit of everything caught fish. Jerkbaits, grubs, crankbaits and spinnerbaits and Buzzbaits. Got some good quality fat smallies today.Sunday Jordan and fished from dawn to about 8:30am. We ended up with 20. Biggest was 15". Caught them on Hawghead tubes, grubs and crankbaits. I bumped a rock for the first time this year going up threw the riffs in the am. No damage.. but it was windy and it was one of those you dont see coming till its too late!

Rich Sala and George Keller went on a Morning charter. Water was low 70's with a slight stain. Started out on some quality "buzz bait" fish in a dense fog. Rich had 2 in the boat just about before i got the Trolling motor in the water! The biggest going a hair over 17". The fog although nice for fishing really prevented us from navigating thru some skinny rocky water this am.Everyone should know that i now have a built in ejector seat in the boat!! We were floating down thru some swift current and BOOM...we hit a nice rock and I took a morning swim!! Quite embarrasing to say the least! But sometimes you just have to laugh..Thank god the water was warm!
They ended up with 29 smallies. Five were over 16". Buzz Baits, swimming jigs and Crankbaits caught most of the fish today. They seemed to get smaller as the day went on.

Fished with Chris Gorsuch and the "G" man this am. It was on and off clouds today, chilly, windy and the water was stained and 76 degrees. We caught 67 smallies this am. They came on crankbaits, grubs, spinnerbaits and buzzbaits! Gerald didnt bring enough of his swimming jigs and wished he had! Smallies were decent size today and seemed to get smaller as the day went on.No pig beasts today but alot of FAT healthy 14-16" fish.
In the afternoon Tim Godshall fished with me for about 3 hours. We caught 20 smallies. Several were decent size as well in the 15-16" range on Crankbaits, spinnerbaits and a couple on tubes. Had to leave early this afternoon as my daughter had Allstar softball practise!

Rich Hebda went for an evening charter. We ended up with 42 fish. Including one walleye and one rock bass. Alot of the bass were last years YOY...looks like we had a good spawn last spring and the flooding we had last june didnt hurt the young fish at all. We did manage to catch a number of decent smallies in the 12-15" range.Rich used his black grub tipped beetle spin. I caught most of mine on crankbaits and a couple on spinnnerbaits. We also saw an immature bald eagle and several deer...and the fish wardens again!
If the water gets any lower the jet boating is going to come to a rapid halt. That is if the river drops another 6 or 8". We could really stand to get some rain.
